I interviewed with the business unit manager and the department manager. The department manager was there for about 15 minutes, and then the unit manager continued the interview for another 15-20 minutes. After the main part of the interview, the unit manager asked me some questions about my international travel, the cultures I've experienced, and my work abroad. It turns out they were planning to do something similar to what I'd been doing for the past few years. It was a really friendly and relaxed interview.

Suncor is a great company, but they should really stop using HireVue. It's supposed to be fair, but you can't ask questions or get clarifications. I get they have a lot of applicants, but using HireVue is a lazy way to filter people, especially for complex jobs. It's bad enough that ATS systems filter people out. Interviews should let you ask questions, especially since you spent time applying and learning about the company. Asking about salary expectations before you know anything about the job, work environment, or culture is short-sighted. Also, the practice says you get 2 tries per question, but I only got one. I messed up the first question and couldn't redo it. I won't apply to companies that use HireVue anymore.
