Actuarial Intern
HR reached out to schedule the actuarial manager interview. Originally it was just one manager, but then two more were added. The interview was a single round via video, and it was mostly technical questions. It was pretty easy going, and even though I didn't have much experience in insurance, I found it manageable because they asked questions tailored to my CV and experience.
- Can you introduce yourself and tell me about yourself?
- Tell me about the challenges you faced in your past work experience and how you managed to overcome them.
- Can you tell me more about your projects?
Actuarial Analyst
It was a pretty tough 2-round interview process. They had some technical questions and some about personality. They might ask for more details about your past projects. It was medium difficulty overall, but it really depends on the interviewer.
- Can you tell me about a project you've worked on recently?
Actuarial Analyst
Interviewed by the director and an associate actuary for an entry level position. The whole 30 minute interview (which ended up being ~45 mins) was technical questions. I think they threw in a couple of behavioural questions at the end just because. Personally I felt that the interview went pretty well, I thought I answered most of the questions right even though I felt so much pressure because of the sheer amount of technical questions. I even got a good vibe from the interviews and I thought for sure I would move to the next round. But then I was ghosted for 3 weeks. I was finally contacted by HR saying they weren't moving forward with my candidacy and that I should provide my availability so they can call me and give me any feedback they might have. I did reply with my availability but I never heard back after that. I would have loved some feedback as I felt strongly about the interview even though it was unnecessarily difficult for an entry level (new grad) position.
- Can you explain yield curves?
- What about interest rates?
- Describe the mechanics of certain types of insurance products.
