First, I had a one-on-one phone call with a team member. It was pretty laid-back, and they just wanted to chat about my general experience and why I was interested in Summit Consulting. Then, a few days later, I had a 3-hour video interview. Each hour, I spoke with two different team members who asked me about different parts of my background. The first hour covered technical stuff like working with data (subsetting, cleaning, transforming). The second hour focused on research experience, including machine learning and discussing the pros and cons of different methods. The last hour was about teamwork, specifically how self-aware I am of my strengths and weaknesses, and my emotional intelligence.

Presentation Behavioral Other

I applied to Summit online in spring 2013 and got a call back the very next day. I flew out for an interview the following week in DC. The process was pretty standard: I gave a presentation and met with employees and the owners. I liked the company culture a lot, but one of the owners was kind of aggressive in our one-on-one. He basically implied I wouldn't stay in DC and doubted my willingness to move there, which was insulting since I applied for the job and it's my decision. Also, the schedule they sent said I'd present in the afternoon, but when I arrived that morning (a bit late because I got lost on the metro), the whole team was waiting for me to present. They later said it looked bad that I kept them waiting, even though they didn't tell me my presentation was first thing and didn't schedule any setup time. It was a good experience overall and I might have taken a job offer, but there were a couple of red flags.

Behavioral Technical

It was a really nice interview process. The recruiter was super friendly and helpful. First, there was a phone interview with the recruiter, mostly covering behavioral questions and my resume. Then, I had an in-person interview where I met three different sets of two people. They asked a mix of behavioral and technical questions. Make sure you know your resume inside out and can explain the reasoning behind your analytical choices. Everyone was really friendly throughout.

The interview process was pretty straightforward and simple. It mostly involved discussing how I'd tackle a specific coding challenge. They also inquired about my past work history, my present skill set, and what I could contribute to the team.
