So the process kicked off with a quick phone screen. After that, there was a technical assessment where they tested my SQL, coding, debugging, and integration knowledge, along with some general software engineering stuff. This was followed by a technical interview with two senior engineers. We went over my background and projects, and discussed things like message queues, CS fundamentals, and APIs. The final step was a presentation with two integration managers.

I recently interviewed for the Associate Integration Engineer role at Sumerge in Maadi, Egypt. Even though my main background is in AI, I took this job as a way to get professional experience at a good company while still looking for AI jobs. The interview was pretty thorough, focusing a lot on the technical skills needed for integration. We talked about SQL and database concepts. A big part was about APIs, like how they work and the different HTTP requests (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), and especially the differences between REST and SOAP. Security was also a big focus, with questions on vulnerabilities like SQL injection and how to stop them, plus the difference between hashing and encryption. It was a solid technical test for an integration engineer.
