Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sullivan.
Analyst
Applied via LinkedIn and heard back from HR via email to schedule an initial call. Then I had an in-person interview with HR about a month later because of the holidays. After that, she set me up to chat with three team members across different levels that I might work with. Everything went really well, and I got an offer two weeks later. It was a straightforward process, and all the people I talked to were super nice and genuinely interested in my thoughts.
- Can you explain why you are interested in Sullivan?
- Could you provide a walkthrough of something?
Analyst
The initial HR chat and interview scheduling were helpful and friendly. However, the in-person interviews, held on sofas in the middle of the workspace, made me uncomfortable. I felt defensive and had to justify my presence, even though they invited me. The founder's comment comparing me to her son was patronizing. The rejection feedback contradicted interview points, like their surprise at my current firm's size followed by a suggestion to gain more experience at a larger firm. On the plus side, I got feedback the same day.
- Could you explain your reasoning for having held three jobs in the past two years?
Analyst
I applied for the Associate Analyst role through my university's career portal, submitting my resume and possibly a cover letter. A recruiter got back to me quickly after I followed up. I then had three approximately 45-minute interviews at their office: two with potential direct managers/colleagues and one with the recruiter. All interviewers were honest and sharp. After that, I had to provide a short writing sample. I received an offer a few days later. Sullivan was accommodating and granted me an extra week to make my decision since I was exploring other opportunities. I'm very pleased with my choice to join Sullivan.
- Behavioral questions were asked, and they were all answerable.
