Program Manager
The interview process involved an initial recruiting phone call, followed by a hiring manager interview, and then an interview with an SVP. After that, there was a take-home exercise, and finally, an on-site interview which consisted of three back-to-back in-person interviews. I genuinely enjoyed the interview experience. All the interviewers were very friendly, and for the most part, I had great conversations with them. Although I made it to the final round, I wasn't the one ultimately selected.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
- What attracted you to this specific role?
- Which of your projects are you most proud of?
Program Manager
I applied for a senior specialist/program management position. The interview process had five stages, including a case study presentation. The first call with the recruiter was brief and felt hurried, but I think I covered everything well. The second interviewer seemed very tired and uninterested; he yawned during our introduction and quickly handed me off to another hiring manager. The conversation with the hiring manager for the third interview was good. We talked about my background, and then he gave me a case study to present in person. The fourth round was really disappointing. It was an in-person meeting with the hiring manager and the project management lead. I gave my case study presentation, but there was hardly any interaction. The head of project management didn't even look at my resume. Her body language was unfriendly, and the hiring manager also seemed disengaged. It was really tough to present a case study to people who weren't enthusiastic, warm, or welcoming. I left not sure if they had even looked at my work or why I was treated so poorly. The last interview was immediately after and was more personal and conversational, which I appreciated, especially after the previous letdown. It's frustrating to spend so much time and effort on presentations, proposals, and case studies, sometimes days, and then just get a standard rejection with no feedback. Every application represents a person's time, energy, and creativity, and that effort deserves recognition. It’s not acceptable for interviewers to be unprepared; reviewing a candidate's resume should be basic. Non-verbal cues are also important; yawning, poor posture, or showing disinterest can make candidates feel uncomfortable and undervalued. Success Academy has high standards for students, and the same should apply to their interviewers. All candidates deserve to feel valued during the process. I hope this feedback leads to improvements.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Given a case study, can you present your proposed strategy for managing this event?
Program Manager
The interview was quick and to the point, with rapid-fire questions. They asked things like how I'd manage a group of teachers, what my current day-to-day involves, and what I look for in a tough class. It seemed to go well overall, but be ready because they are very direct. Make sure you can clearly state what you'll contribute to the job.
- How would you effectively manage a cohort of 40+ teachers?
