I applied online for a lead teacher job back in March but got rejected about 2 weeks later. They did offer me an interview for a summer teaching fellowship though. They told us to bring something personal and be ready to present it to the group. Around 10 of us were there from 9am to 2pm. We started by showing our items and talking about them. Then we watched some teachers and talked about what we saw. After that, we each did a teach-back using a book excerpt. We got feedback on our lessons and took a break. When we came back, we had to analyze a poem by ourselves while they took people for one-on-one interviews. We could leave once we finished. I interviewed on a Tuesday and heard back with an offer the following Sunday.

I applied through my school's job board. The first interview was a phone chat with HR. It was a pretty typical interview covering my past experiences, my interest in Success Academy, and why I wanted to work there. The next interview was in-person at their Harlem, NYC office. I met with the HR person I spoke with on the phone and a team member from the department I was applying to. It was quite brief, about 20 minutes, and focused on similar topics as the phone interview.

The interview lasted about 2 hours. Everyone had to introduce themselves and then teach a lesson to the other candidates using questioning strategies. There were 10 other candidates in the interview. Having a bachelor's degree in education made you more likely to do well. For people like me who didn't major in education, the other applicants were more qualified, and I didn't have a chance against them.
