Executive Assistant
We start with you submitting your cover letter. Then there is a screening interview with HR. After that, you will have a few behavioral interviews with current assistants. Lastly, you will interview with the C-Suite member.
- How do you align with the organization's mission?
Executive Assistant
It started with an initial phone screen, then an in-person interview. Following that, there were several rounds of interviews meeting different staff members, especially since multiple positions were open. During the second in-person interview round for a school position, I was asked about having children, which felt disrespectful and illegal. I didn't hear back after that, possibly because I didn't deny having children. I was then called for another interview for a different role, which went well with several questions about my work experiences. A final interview round followed, again for a different role, with two staff members. After they left the room, I sensed I wouldn't get any of the positions. They returned and said they'd be in touch. Three days later, HR called to say they received positive feedback but I wasn't chosen for any roles. I'm sure children excel at the school, but their corporate office seems to have high turnover and isn't a great place to work based on reviews. My advice: do your research; NYC has many great companies with good culture and management.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- How do you maintain organization?
- Describe a time you made an error.
Executive Assistant
I was contacted by an internal recruiter for a phone interview. I had scheduled one, but then didn't hear back. They contacted me again to reschedule. The interview went well, and I followed up twice with the recruiter, but never received a response, not even to my emails. I know there are lots of applicants, but I thought it was unprofessional.
- What are your thoughts on transitioning into this role?
