First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Stylight.
Software Engineer Backend
I applied through their job portal. The first step was an HR interview that lasted half an hour. After that, they sent me a technical assignment to solve. Once I submitted my solution, there was a 1-hour technical interview. During the interview, they complimented the task I did. The next step was a management interview, which was also half an hour. All steps were going well. However, after the management interview, there was an additional interview with the people who conducted the technical interview. I really thought I would be selected because they gave me very positive feedback in the technical interview. But after completing 5 interviews and tasks, they rejected me. That was very unpleasant. I still don't know the exact reason. After reaching this stage, candidates should deserve to know the precise reason, not just some generalized text.
- The assignment involved a URL lookup function to convert between pretty URLs and parameterized URLs.
Technical SEO Manager
The entire interview process was surprisingly fast, indicating they value applicants' time while aiming to hire the best fit. My first conversation was with Sebastian, the HR manager at Stylight. It lasted about 30 minutes, during which he introduced himself, inquired about my past work experience, and asked why I believed I was the ideal candidate for the Technical SEO Manager role. The day following this initial interview, I received an SEO task with three distinct question types (which I'm keeping confidential as they might differ for other candidates). Subsequently, an email confirmed my task submission was successful and I was advancing to the next stage, which involves interviews with the SEO Lead and VP of Marketing. I'm currently at this exciting point, nearing the final steps of the hiring process. I've done extensive research on Stylight, reflected on why I'm the best candidate, and genuinely appreciate the company's culture and the opportunities for both personal and professional development. Fingers crossed!

Data Scientist
The first step was a chat with HR where we went over my resume and basic details. It went fine, so I was given a task to do. After I finished the task, I had a technical interview where we discussed it. The interviewer was pretty arrogant and bossy and didn't let me finish what I was saying, even when I talked about my past experience in a different area he clearly knew nothing about. He also wouldn't let a junior person who was there speak and would correct her when she tried to ask questions. I did mention that I felt he was steering the conversation without letting me finish my sentences, and I'm not sure he took it well. I'm concerned this might be how he manages his team, but it's likely. The impression I got is that the talk about this being a great place to work might be a bit of a show.
- The task involved defining a metric for how content should be shown on the website, and also something about A/B testing.
- During the technical interview, they asked basic questions like what a p-value is, and about testing code.
Software Engineer
My interview process with Stylight took about a month. The main issue was their slow responses and not being clear about the process status, like if they were waiting for feedback or if other candidates were still being interviewed. They also didn't give an estimated wait time for the next steps. I had two main rounds. The first was a 20-minute call with the technical recruiter. He introduced himself, I introduced myself, and he asked about my company knowledge, salary expectations, and availability. Right after that, he gave me a take-home assignment to complete over the weekend. After I submitted it, I had to follow up after two weeks. The following week, I had my technical/managerial interview where we discussed my past experience and some improvements to my take-home assignment solution. I had to follow up again after another week, and that's when I found out I didn't make it to the next round. No feedback was given on why. Because I had to chase them for status updates for weeks, I doubt I would have gotten any feedback even if I had followed up more.
