Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Styles for Less.
Assistant Manager
The hiring process involved submitting a handwritten application detailing the last 15 years of employment, including any gaps, which required printing six pages. They also requested pay stubs from previous jobs, particularly the most recent ones. The hiring manager indicated that they would only consider candidates who stated they were available for work at all times, regardless of prior discussions with the store manager. During the process, the hiring manager used white-out to alter my application while I was present.

Assistant Manager
I applied for sales associate in Feb 2012 and realized it was more about HOW you answered than WHAT you answered. They wanted someone easy to work with, so be professional but have fun. Dress with a sense of fashion. Be persistent! I'd call after applying to ask for the store manager and check status. A week later, I got called in. A few days after that, I got a job offer. After 6 months, I was promoted to MIT and then PT Assistant Manager. The promotion didn't involve much of an interview, just training. My Store Manager trained me for 2 months. After a couple months, my District Manager reviewed everything to ensure I understood management responsibilities. A few months later, I was promoted to FT Assistant Manager. No interview, just an overview and a pay bump.

Assistant Manager
It was a straightforward process with a relaxed interview style. There's a chance to move up based on merit and opportunities to transfer or work at other locations simultaneously. I learned a lot about ensuring guest return by making them feel welcomed and befriended.
- What's your approach to resolving conflicts between customers and employees?
