Behavioral Technical Case

Found out about this role online while working at a for-profit education company that was eliminating positions. As one of the first applicants, I began the process early. I submitted a lengthy application along with my resume and references. I received my first phone call from an HR representative. The phone screen lasted 45 minutes. The following week, I was scheduled to meet a senior manager on the team. This call lasted 1 hour. Many of the same questions were asked in the first interview, with role play scenarios. A few weeks later, I received an invitation to meet the team supervisor via phone interview. This call lasted 90 minutes. By this call, my previous company had laid me off, and the StudyPoint interview process had already taken 2 months. I received a request to complete a lengthy Talent Analytics Assessment. A week later, I was invited to meet with one of the founders via phone interview. I felt that by this call, I was a strong candidate based on my skills and sales background in education. Before the winter holidays, with several follow-ups on my part, the lead supervisor informed me that I did not make it to the final stage of the hiring process. I thought this was the last I would hear from them. I moved on and was about to take another position with a different company, and then, at the end of December, I was contacted by the supervisor to find out if I was available for another call. I accepted and learned they were still in need of filling one more position. I was elated. I was put back into a holding pattern to later learn that they were "firming up their hiring needs" and I would be denied by StudyPoint for a second time. If you are applying here, proceed with caution.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I saw a tutoring job on Craigslist and sent in my application. About two weeks later, I got an email back. I responded with my availability for a phone interview. The phone interview happened a few days after that. Then they wanted to see me in person to evaluate my tutoring abilities. We met at a Starbucks, where another tutor asked me some questions and then we did a practice tutoring session. I had to teach her how to do a math worksheet. A few days after that, I got an email saying I got the job.

I applied and got a generic response to upload a video explaining why I’d be a good fit for the position and one thing about me that wasn’t on my resume. I did the video, sent it off. No response, just complete silence. To put yourself out there and be vulnerable and to not get any response is very rude. And…the job is still open. Some feedback would be professional when someone takes the time to submit something like that.

It started with a phone screen where they asked some standard role-play questions about handling basic situations with the team and with parents and tutors. Then there was another phone interview with the VP. Finally, an in-office interview happened, which was a straightforward review of my CV, relevant experience, goals, aspirations, and how I would contribute to the team.
