Full Stack Developer
The first part of the interview was a technical screen with Java coding problems and some front end HTML/CSS questions. After that, there were like 5 more interviews all back to back. One of them involved a presentation, then more CSS, HTML, and JavaScript, followed by more Java coding questions, and finally a section on SQL.
- Can you explain SQL join tables?
- How does binary search work?
- Could you discuss front end HTML and CSS concepts?
Senior Recruiter
The recruiter was over 15 minutes late to the interview. She then talked about studying for the bar for about 5 minutes, leaving less than 10 minutes for the actual interview. She briefly described the company and asked one question. She said I would be moving to the next round and that she or April would contact me the next day to schedule it. However, I was ghosted for a week before receiving a rejection email stating they decided not to move forward after reviewing my resume.
- Could you tell me about the types of roles you've previously recruited for?
Software Engineer
I applied online and got a call for a phone screen about a week later. The recruiter was super helpful and asked some basic behavioral questions. After that, I was invited to a one-hour interview with two coding questions. The first one was a Java question about finding a green ball, which was a bit confusingly worded and required a divide and conquer approach. I think I messed up my explanation of how I'd solve it. The second question was a front-end task where I had to recreate a navigation bar using HTML/CSS, which was pretty straightforward. Even though the interviewers were nice, I got really nervous and felt like I bombed the first question. I ended up getting a rejection email within a week.
- Tell me about the Java question where you had to find the green ball, and the HTML & CSS question where you had to replicate a UI.
- Could you elaborate on the Java and HTML/CSS questions you were asked?
Software Engineer in Test
The interview process had 3 stages. First was a 30-minute phone screen with introductory questions and a salary discussion. The interviewer was friendly and shared company info. I got moved to the next round. Second, a 1-hour technical interview with the hiring manager and a senior engineer. After intros and an overview, I got an algorithms question and a testing/QA question. The senior engineer helped with APIs. I got to ask questions too. Interviewers were friendly. I didn't get selected, but the process was good. If I had passed, the next step was a 2-day virtual onsite, 3 hours each day, with the team.
- Any questions for me regarding the role or the company?
- What's my criteria for selecting a job?
- How do I identify the right company for me?
