First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at STUDIOS Architecture.
Architecture Intern
We had an in person interview that lasted about an hour and a half. It included some formal questions, and I also did a digital presentation of my portfolio. We also took a tour. The digital presentation involved an in-depth discussion about projects I selected.
- What contributions do you think you could make to the office?
- What are your goals for this internship?
Design Technology Manager
Had a 2 round virtual interview. I met with the leadership team and they explained their daily processes and my duties. I talked about my past experience and how my role would be structured, both strategically and with daily tasks. They made an offer that same week after the second interview.
- Could you tell me about your experience using Revit?
Junior Designer
So I had a phone interview first. Then they set up a video interview with an agency they were using for hiring. Before the first interview, they had me write down 10 core values with descriptions. The first interview was about 30 minutes discussing my 10 values, and general stuff like telling me about myself. The other 20 minutes were spent going through my portfolio. After that, there were two more rounds of interviews. The second interview was with them, and it was similar to the last one, where they asked me to talk about my portfolio again.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Please go over the 10 core values you wrote about.
- Can you talk about your portfolio?
Informational Interview
I reached out for an informational interview about entry-level roles. I didn't know who I'd talk to beforehand, which I should've asked. I showed my portfolio to three Architects and we toured the office. They mentioned they aren't hiring right now, but still interview people. The interviewers were really interested in my projects while I presented, so it was cool to chat. The team seemed super creative, always coming up with new ideas and feedback. I was a bit bummed that I only got about three questions outside of the portfolio and office tour chat. I thought I'd have to answer a lot more questions and kinda wish I'd found more ways to 'sell' myself during the interview instead of assuming I'd be asked more. Overall, the designers gave me good feedback.
- Are you applying to other jobs?
