Marketing Associate
The process kicked off with a 30-minute chat with the CEO, Benjamin Streams, who was surprisingly charming and funny, not intimidating at all. After that, there was a long shadowing day from 11 AM to 6 PM, which involved carpooling to Walmart. My trainer kept stressing how exclusive the positions were, which I suspect wasn't entirely true. It's basically a sales gig selling Xfinity at Walmart. Back at the office, we had a quiz with questions that needed correct answers. Finally, I met with Mr. Streams again. He mentioned they didn't have space for me and were looking for highly motivated individuals eager to manage their own business, which I took as a test to see if I'd advocate for myself. I did, and I got the offer. However, on the drive home, I reconsidered and declined the offer due to the demanding nature, lack of benefits, and commission-only structure.

Customer Service Sales Representative
After applying, I got an email about interview times and replied with my availability since I'm currently working. I got a quick response for a first interview 3 days later. The office was small but bright and neat. After filling out a form, I met a friendly British guy. He asked me questions about my current job and what I want from my next position. It lasted maybe less than 10 minutes. That evening, I got a call saying I'd been selected for a second, full-day interview to see the promo events side in 2 days. For the second interview, I went to the office again and met a friendly, welcoming team member from Chicago. After that, we traveled about 10 minutes by Uber to a promo event. They explained why the company is growing and that they're looking for people to train and develop into more senior roles. The promo that day was with Xfinity. They gave me tasks and asked questions throughout the day to test me on different things. The day was fun and friendly but had a lot of information. Towards the end, they said they'd make a recommendation to the manager and contact me if selected. I was called a day later to say that since they're looking for immediate starts to train, they wouldn't offer me a position, but we could talk again in May when I graduate. Overall, it was a good experience; people were friendly. They work hard but seem to enjoy it. If a position is still available in May, I'll try again.

Marketing Assistant
The first interview was a meet and greet, which led to a second interview. The second interview was actually a job shadowing assessment, not a traditional interview. I felt blindsided by this because I thought I had an interview at 11 AM and then a job shadowing event from 2-6 PM. I had repeatedly asked for clarification on the details of the job shadow event (what it entailed, where I'd be, who I'd work with, what to bring, and the timeframe), but my questions were never answered. I was only told my interview was at 11 AM and to bring a notepad and pen. This felt shady, disrespectful, and irresponsible of Streamline. I had to arrange alternative childcare because I didn't know the actual hours of the event and assumed I'd be done by 6 PM. I carpooled with another team member, so I didn't have my own transportation back to the office. The job shadow event actually ran from 11:30 AM to 7 PM. This is all voluntary. I still had no idea what to expect. I went with a team member to Walmart and observed them selling their product to shoppers. I did learn a lot, and my team member was professional, informative, and driven. This is a sales position, and the job description I applied for was misleading. Back at the office, I completed a questionnaire, which my team member took to the hiring manager. After their meeting, I had to give my team member a sales pitch about myself to be considered for a third interview. After a brief discussion, I realized this wasn't the position I thought it was, nor did I want it. I thanked my team member and left around 8 PM. I'll learn from this, but if I had known the details, I wouldn't have gone to the second interview, saving both Streamline and myself time.
- Can you tell me about your professional and personal goals?
Account Executive
The interview process for Streamline USA seemed to be a three-part system. My first interview went really well, and I met with the branch owner. It was pretty short but professional and to the point. Later that day, I found out that I was one of five people out of 25 who made it to the second round. The owner explained that the second round would be like a 'day in the life' of an employee. I was paired with one of their top corporate trainers and shadowed him throughout the day. I asked him questions as we went, and by the end of the day, I was in the third stage. The third stage was a review of what I learned and observed during the day with the branch owner. This last round was definitely the toughest part of the day, testing my knowledge from shadowing the trainer. Overall, it was a really positive experience and felt very fresh.
