Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Streamlabs.
Software Engineer
I had a call with a recruiter, then a call with a team member, followed by a coding assignment found on Github. After that, there was a technical interview discussing my assignment choices and a live coding session for an additional feature from the Github. They then ghosted me.
- Don't second guess yourself while they question you during the coding exercise, because I changed my code based on their questions and my original answer was correct in the end.
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process was practical and focused on real skills, not just LeetCode problems. It started with an Initial Screening to ensure basic fit, covering general programming, databases, and queries. Next was a practical Take-home assignment related to streaming statistics, with less emphasis on frontend skills. This was followed by the Main Technical Interview, where they discussed the take-home assignment and delved into system design and architecture without requiring live coding. Finally, there was a Panel Interview, which was more behavioral, focusing on situational and professional topics with PMs and other developers, indicating you were close to an offer.
- Tell me about database indexes, with a focus on composite indexes.
- Walk me through your take-home assignment and explain the reasoning behind your choices.
- Describe methods for optimizing backend performance.
Software Developer
After the General phone interview, they ask a Project interview. They gave me 2 weeks I had to make a program that has functions or limitations that they asked. Their response was fast.
- Create the program with the specified functions and limitations.
