I'm tired of all these take-home assessments, so I told them I wouldn't do one. The first interview went great, and so did the second one with a technical person. Instead of a take-home, we did a pair-programming exercise, which was cool because I got to see how they work and they got to see how I work. Honestly, it's way better than those 2-hour take-homes that end up taking 8+ hours. The calls with the higher-ups were all good too. They seem like a focused group that gets stuff done without wasting time, which I appreciate. The communication is straightforward, easy, and quick. I asked to start in a few months so I could wrap up some freelance work, and they were totally cool with that. Can't wait to start!

First, a quick call with HR to talk about the company and position, and what I'm looking for. It was a nice chat, but I didn't get many details. Then, a call with the Lead engineer to discuss my background, how teams work at StreamElements, what they're seeking, and what's important to me. Next, a FE assignment to build a React app based on a low-fidelity wireframe. There were no specific instructions, so I had to figure out the tools, design, and delivery myself. I was told it would take about 2 hours, but it ended up taking 6-7 hours to do it well with tests. They skipped the technical call because they liked the assignment. Finally, a call with a C-level executive. It started with him shouting 'Whatszzz up!?!' and then he talked for 10 minutes about his tech history. He was typing and laughing during the interview, which was weird and made me uncomfortable. He asked if a colleague's feedback ever changed my life. When I tried to ask about the job ad, he seemed annoyed and gave vague answers. After all this, I still don't know what team or product I'd be working on, and I got no feedback. They decided not to offer me the position.

I was contacted by HR for an initial chat. Then, I had to complete an assignment. After that, I went through a technical interview, and finally, I had my last interview with the CTO. It was a long process, and I felt like everything was going really well, but then things took a turn during the final interview with the CTO. He came across as quite rude and seemed to have already decided my fate before we even started talking.
