Behavioral Technical

The whole thing started with a recruiter phone screening, then a phone screen with the Engineering Director. After that, I got a take-home project. A week later, I had a debrief with an engineer. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager for the team. There was some internal issue, and then I had a final interview with the CTO. Honestly, it was a pretty drawn-out process, felt like too many interviews and a lot of red tape. It took about a week to hear back after each stage, and the entire thing stretched out over two months. Most of the team was pretty cool, but the CTO was super aggressive, and that interview was really hostile. The HR people weren't great communicators either; they actually made it seem like I had an offer before taking it back.

Behavioral Technical Coding Presentation

So, I got referred and had a phone screening where we chatted about my background and what I was looking for, and they gave me a general idea of STORD. Then, I spoke with the VP of Engineering for a quick chat to get more context and talk about my experience. After that, STORD sent me an assignment. Once I finished it, I had the main interview, which was split into three parts. First was a peer technical interview where we reviewed the assignment and had a good technical discussion. Next, I had a cultural interview with an HR person. Finally, I had another chat with the VP of Eng, covering some technical points but mainly focusing on how I approach problems and difficulties I've encountered before.

Behavioral Technical Coding

First, there was an HR screening call. Then, I had to complete a code assessment through a project submission. After that, there were 2 interview rounds. One was with an engineering VP, which was heavily focused on STAR-based questions and answers. The other was with a technical architect to go over the project submission and ask more technical questions.

  • Lots of conversation about the project submissions to discuss decisions made, libraries used, and trade-offs.
