Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Stitch Fix.
Accounts Payable
The interviewer was super easy to talk to and very friendly. She helped me relax and just be myself. She really made me feel at ease.
- Can you walk me through your resume and describe your positions and responsibilities at each of your previous employers?
Accountant
The interview process was tough but good overall. First, I had a phone call with the Accounting Manager where we talked about my general qualifications and I gave an overview of my resume. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview. They surprised me with a pop quiz at the start, which had two word problems. I had 5 minutes to do the journal entries. Then, I met with 4 team members for 30 minutes each, discussing my qualifications and personality. The next day, I had a final in-person interview. Before that, I had to complete a homework assignment and send it to the Accounting Manager. In the final interview, the manager and I reviewed my assignment. Afterward, I met with 3-4 more accounting team members for about 30 minutes each. I got a verbal offer about an hour after leaving. It was challenging but a wonderful experience, and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I was very satisfied with the process.
- Have you ever dealt with a difficult work environment or colleague? How did you manage?
- Given two word problems, how would you complete the necessary journal entries in 5 minutes?
Accountant
Started with a recruiter call, then I took a technical assessment. After that, I interviewed with the Hiring Manager. They both were great and asked good questions, even noticing my community involvement, showing they cared about me as a person and my skills. Next, I had a three-part interview with the director and stakeholders, which also went well. Unfortunately, the finance team didn't approve the budget for the position, so it didn't work out.
- Can you share an example of a time when…
- Describe the month-end closing process from your previous job.
