Applied in late November and heard back from a recruiter the next day. The process started fast with an interview with the hiring director, then a panel interview which went well. But things got less clear after that. The job didn't list a salary range, which is normal for the company, and they only talked about pay when I asked. They did update the listing later though. Even though it was called an operations role, the interviews showed it was more about business systems. After more interviews and talking with the recruiter, I got a generic rejection email with no personal touch. Since I was so far along, it felt rude.

I went through 2 online technical interviews on Teams and passed both. After that, HR invited me to the Juinagar, Navi Mumbai office for a meeting where they laid out the salary structure. They held back the email with the salary details, thinking I might get counter offers since I was available to join immediately. Once I agreed to join that day, HR told me the position was put on hold. However, I soon got an offer from another company with a slightly better salary.

Had a one-hour web conference, which was a bit technical but the hiring manager had a really weird personality. His own educational background seemed iffy, and his feedback was all over the place. He was looking for specific tech skills, though he didn't seem to have any himself. Not sure how he's a manager, honestly; he mentioned getting laid off a bunch from oil and gas. Didn't hear back and he made a few flaky promises.

First, there was a quick phone chat to see if I was worth more of the manager's time. Then the recruiter gave me a test with SQL queries, some easy, some a bit harder. They said to test my queries in my own database setup. This seemed like another way to filter out people who were totally clueless or didn't try. Later, I helped interview for this job, and we'd immediately dismiss anyone who clearly hadn't bothered to test their answers. The actual interview was pretty chill. They asked me a brain teaser, and about myself, both professionally and personally, to gauge my ability to do the work and if I'd fit in with the team. They were really upfront about the on-call schedule being demanding.
