Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sterne Kessler Goldstein and Fox PLLC.
Paralegal
First, an HR interview, and then you'll meet with two or more attorneys. HR will also give you a grammar test; it's not too hard but has questions about lots of unusual grammar rules. The attorneys just want to get to know you and will mostly ask typical questions for that.
- Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.
- Can you describe a time you overcame a difficulty?
- Complete this grammar test.
Paralegal
I applied online and got called in for a 2-hour interview session. The first step was a 30-minute vocab, grammar, and spelling test that I had to pass to proceed. I passed it in less than 12 minutes. Then, I met with the senior paralegal and a paralegal manager. I think it went well, and they seemed to want someone who's ready to learn and put in long hours. After that, I had an interview with HR about benefits and what the firm offers. Finally, I got a tour of the office.
- How does your past experience relate to this role?
- What's your reason for leaving your current job?
- What draws you to intellectual property law?
Legal Assistant/Paralegal
First, there was a phone interview. Then, they invited me for an in-person interview. Once I got here, I completed a simple spelling test and then turned in a writing sample. After that, I was interviewed by four different people. It was really nice, more like a chat than a formal interview. They didn't ask any tricky questions, they just seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. If you're ready, you should do fine.
- What draws you to intellectual property law?
- What are your thoughts on our firm?
- Can you tell me a word that describes you?
