Pretty simple process. First up was an hour long chat, split in half. First half with HR, just general behavioral stuff. Second half was with the department director and a patent agent. The questions in the second half were more about getting to know you than really testing how much you know.

I applied online and got called in for a 2-hour interview session. The first step was a 30-minute vocab, grammar, and spelling test that I had to pass to proceed. I passed it in less than 12 minutes. Then, I met with the senior paralegal and a paralegal manager. I think it went well, and they seemed to want someone who's ready to learn and put in long hours. After that, I had an interview with HR about benefits and what the firm offers. Finally, I got a tour of the office.

I had a phone interview with HR first, then a phone interview with a director, and then an in-person interview. It was all pretty standard. I do wish they would have someone who actually does your job speak to you, especially for technical specialists since you are typically coming from an entirely different field of work, so there's a lot of questions to be asked, but the in person interviews were only with directors. Nothing too technical, just trying to get a feel for any knowledge you have, and what your background is.

First, there was a phone interview. Then, they invited me for an in-person interview. Once I got here, I completed a simple spelling test and then turned in a writing sample. After that, I was interviewed by four different people. It was really nice, more like a chat than a formal interview. They didn't ask any tricky questions, they just seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. If you're ready, you should do fine.
