I was first contacted by a headhunter. Then, a telephone interview was set up. I spoke with a Steelcase VP for about 90 minutes. This was the initial interview, and they said it went really well and that they'd reach out for the next interview. I followed up a few times, but things got delayed because of business reasons and a national trade show called Neocon. Later on, I was told that Steelcase wasn't interested in hiring someone who 'came from the Dealership level'. This was inaccurate since I had been with a major competitor for over 20 years.

The interview process involved speaking with two recruiters first, and then a panel interview with three managers: the Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and HR. They asked prepared questions about different sales scenarios, looking for experience and behavioral answers. The whole thing took about 3 weeks and was done through a recruiting company. Everyone was nice and professional. It seems like a good company to work for. I didn't have experience in office furniture sales, and they hired someone who did.
