First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Steadily.
Underwriting Assistant
The interview process felt rushed, with hints of an upcoming training class start date. It began with a 15-minute screening, followed by a 30-minute interview. Then, there was a two-hour case study where I had to take time out of my workday to complete mundane tasks while being observed. Finally, another two hours out of my workday were dedicated to a final interview with four team members. It's unclear who gets hired here, as they always seem to have openings and I know highly qualified people who were rejected. After all this time, they send a generic rejection email with no useful feedback and no reply option.
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how would your supervisor rate your performance?
Assistant Underwriter
So, there were 4 steps in total for the interview. First was a short 15 minute video call, then another 30 minute video call. After that, there was a 2 hour session that was a mix of a case study and a video call. I'm pretty sure the last step was an in-person meeting with some of the senior folks, but unfortunately, I only got through the first three stages before getting a generic rejection email.
- If asked, how would your previous three supervisors describe you?
Sales Agent
So I had 2 phases. The first phase was great. The second phase was two parts and terrible. The first part of the second phase, the interviewer was engaging and friendly. The second part of the second phase, the interviewer was rude and condescending. I was in my car on my lunch break to have privacy. She asked if I had just been sitting in my car waiting for them to call me, which I found off putting and extremely odd. I explained I was on my lunch break. During the second phase, they said they would reach out to my current supervisor. I think this is inappropriate at best. Not every candidate wants their current employer to know they are seeking employment elsewhere. They decided not to proceed to a third interview and I would have declined as well. I don’t think we would have been a good fit.
- Can you provide your current supervisor's name?
Product Manager
The interview process involved 5 rounds. Initially, there was a meeting with the CEO, followed by a meeting with a Senior PM. Then, a take-home project was assigned. Subsequently, there was a meeting with the co-founders, and the final round was a meeting with senior engineers. The team appeared very capable.
- Can you describe how you manage upwards?
- How do you approach conflict resolution?
- What's your strategy for deciding product direction?
