Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at State Street.
Business Analyst
It was a technical interview where they asked about SQL, ETL, and python. They also asked about my resume experiences and object-oriented design principles like inheritance. It was pretty casual and they didn't focus on behavioral questions.
- Can you instantiate an object from an abstract class?
Business Analyst
Applied for the role and got a call from a recruiter, followed by an email. I replied with my availability and asked for hers. She responded two days later with another call while I was asleep and I again asked to schedule a time and gave my availability. She ignored this and kept calling me all week while I was asleep. I explicitly asked to schedule a time because of the time difference, but she ignored this. I suggested a specific time and date, and she ignored that too. The recruiter was in India and wouldn't cooperate in setting up a time to interview me, despite me being an international applicant for a role in Germany.

Business Analyst
I was interviewed for another position in the same company. First, I had a 1:1 interview with my new manager. Then, I got a chance for a group interview via video with my manager's manager (in Sydney) and my matrix manager (in Boston). On the same day, they also interviewed another candidate for the same position. I got the offer finally. I heard from my manager that my English skills helped me win the offer compared with my competitor. My advice is, if you want to apply for a position that requires working with native English speakers, and English is not your mother tongue, good English skills will help you get the position.
- Could you describe your responsibilities and accomplishments in your prior role?
