I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn about an Underwriter position. After a positive initial discussion where I expressed interest in the role and potentially visiting their LA office, I had an interview with a manager that also went well. Following that, the process stalled. I was informed about a subsequent interview with a different manager, but it never materialized. The recruiter maintained communication, periodically updating me that they were still awaiting the manager's availability. Eventually, it felt like the process was indefinite with no clear timeline or next steps, prompting me to withdraw my application.

There was an online test, followed by 3 interview rounds. Each round was with people I would be working with closely. I interviewed with the head of IT for all the rounds. Overall it was a good experience and the people were friendly.

I had an initial chat with HR over the phone, and then there was one onsite interview. The HR phone interview involved going through some basic questions about my background. The onsite interview itself was quite relaxed and conversational. We talked about my experience in the industry, my career aspirations, and my hobbies.

I applied in July and they got back to me at the end of August. After an initial virtual chat with the recruiter, I had three more interviews with the Manager, Chief Underwriting Officer, and Regional Vice President. While it took a while, the process itself was pretty straightforward. The recruiter's communication and professionalism, however, were really lacking. She didn't provide a salary range upfront, instead asking for my expectations. I had to chase her for updates instead of her proactively reaching out. The offer was the most frustrating part. They offered less than I asked for, only 15 days of PTO, and required a 4-day in-office schedule. When I asked about negotiating pay or PTO, since I currently have 25 days, the recruiter said no. I've never encountered a company that wouldn't negotiate before. Not only did they lowball me, but they also gave me only three days to accept. This was one of the worst hiring experiences I've ever had. This company seems very old-fashioned, unprofessional, and inflexible. I'd advise avoiding them unless you're really desperate.
