I applied in January for an internship in media planning at Starcom. I got contacted pretty fast for a phone interview. The HR person asked some standard questions and some easy math questions (like 20% of 40, and the percentage of 1/3) and also media stuff. It felt like they just wanted to make sure I was actually qualified. I had a second interview, also by phone since I was overseas. I spoke with a media planner who asked me about teamwork, leadership, and other typical workplace topics. She seemed really curious about what I specifically wanted to do at Starcom.

I emailed back and forth with two recruiters and had two phone interviews over about a month to a month and a half. The first phone interview went well, and the interviewer was really nice. The second one, though, not so much. The guy I spoke with wasn't friendly and didn't seem to care about what I was saying. I was actually looking at two internship positions I was super interested in, and when they set it up internally, he called and never told me which one I was being interviewed for. So, I answered everything without knowing which role it was. When I finally asked, he sounded annoyed and couldn't even answer a few of my questions, saying he wasn't sure because he'd never been an intern. I sent a follow-up email but never heard back.

I applied on my university website and then also on the company website. They got back to me in reference to my company website application. I had my first phone interview, and then did not hear back for awhile. Then they e-mailed me to see if I was still interested around a month later for a second round phone interview. I was never was required to meet face to face.
