First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at STAR Education.
Site Staff
It was a Zoom interview and I got put in a breakout room. The person there told me what to expect. Then the supervisor for the site joined and asked me questions about my background, why I want to work with kids, and what special skills I have.
- Tell me about your experience working with children.
Site Director
Got hired straight away in the first interview, it was super fast! They didn't ask too many things before deciding I was a good fit. The interview process was a bit messy though, I ended up waiting on Zoom by myself for over 30 minutes before anyone showed up to talk.
- Tell me about someone you look up to and the reasons why.
Department Manager
I applied for a job, but after a quick chat and looking at my resume, the hiring manager asked if I'd be interested in a different role. I got to ask some questions about this new position. By the end of our conversation, they told me another manager would be in touch. The questions were about safety, childcare activities and education, and my experience with schools and families.
- Can you tell me about your background in the childcare industry?
- What experience do you have working with school districts and families?
- What are your views on safety protocols in childcare settings?
After School Program Staff
I had a Zoom interview with HR. They asked me about my experience with kids and if I had to plan 2 lesson plans for 1st graders through 5th graders what they would be. They wanted to see if my passions were channeled into a curriculum for kids. There was mandated reporter training that followed as well as a live scan and physical. The process took about a week to be hired and on site!
- How many kids have you taught in a group?
- What are your passions and how would you make a curriculum for kids with them?
- Could you create two lesson plans for 1st-5th graders?
