Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Stantec.
Project Engineer
It was one round where I met with the SPM and office manager, and also got to meet the team. They seemed more interested in finding someone with the right personality than someone with strong technical skills. They asked about my personal hobbies and activities, my background, and also my career aspirations.
- What are your long-term goals within this company?
- Do you envision yourself in a technical or managerial position here?
Innovation Engineer
I had two interviewers who were really nice. But one of them kept cutting me off when I was answering questions, so I barely got to talk. Also, some of the questions were a bit unclear. The questions themselves were pretty easy though, but it was still a frustrating experience. I got a rejection email later on.
- Can you explain machine learning classification algorithms?
- Tell me about your experience with Git.
- Describe your past experience and projects.
Engineer
Interviewing for an internship through the university application. The interview lasted only 30 minutes and was the only one. University rules meant the offer couldn't be extended until a specific date, but the company was ready to hire immediately. The interview focused more on assessing teachability than technical skills, as the supervisors wanted to get to know the candidates.
- What are your weaknesses?
