Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Stantec.
Project Coordinator
The interviewers were nice and made me feel at ease. They wanted to know about my technical background, how fast I learn, and my approach to actual projects, not just if I had the perfect answers. They took the time to explain the role and give me a clear picture of the team and the work environment. It felt like a supportive place focused on my long-term development.
- What kind of job are you hoping to get immediately after you graduate?
Project Coordinator
It was a 2-step interview process. The first interview was with the hiring manager who is leaving the role. The second interview was with the same manager and a few other colleagues. After the second interview, I was ghosted. All my emails and calls to the recruiter went unanswered. The team seemed nice, but previous reviews mentioned that the same team/department also ghosted other candidates after interviews.
- What would you do if you had two tasks due at the same time and could only work on one?
Project Coordinator
It was pretty chill, more like a chat. First, I had a phone call, then I spoke with the hiring manager and another person from my potential team. We talked about my career goals and where I see myself in the long run (1, 5, and 10 years), and also why I'm interested in joining the company.
- Can you discuss your past work experiences?
- What are your aspirations for the next year?
- Where do you envision yourself in five years?
