First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Stanley Steemer International.
Call Center Agent
It was a quick and fun process. There were two phone calls and the people were really easy to talk to. Each call was about 20 minutes and felt more like a conversation than an interview.
- What's your reason for leaving your current position?
Carpet Cleaning Technician
I went to their headquarters and they had a lot of pamphlets which was nice for understanding the company and services. Then I met with the training manager and general manager. They told me about the company, their experiences, benefits, what a typical day looks like, how pay works, and advancement opportunities. They asked some questions to see if my goals matched theirs, like if I wanted full or part time, if the indefinite closing time would be an issue, my transportation situation, and my goals for applying. At the end, they asked if I was still interested. The interview was maybe 10-15 minutes, very easy and comfortable.
- Are you still interested in the job after I've told you about the job details?
- Have you worked a job where you were paid commission?
- Would you have a problem with an indefinite closing time, because some jobs don't end until you're done and some closing jobs could take longer than expected?
SEO Specialist
Applied to a job through LinkedIn, then had a 30 min phone interview with the hiring manager. She asked generic questions and talked about how great the company is. I was told I'd hear back in a week, but had to follow up. After I left a voicemail, they sent a rejection email minutes later. The job was reposted the week I was supposed to hear back, and the hiring manager blocked me after sending the rejection. This is the most unprofessional I've ever seen from a major company's recruiter. I suspect it was a fake job posting. It's disturbing
- Was asked if I was okay with a full five days a week in the office.
Finance
I interviewed with Stanley Steemer twice. First, I spoke with their HR recruiter, then with their financial controller. It was a typical interview process with situational questions and some about my background. I never heard back about whether another candidate was chosen. It would have been nice to get a quick email saying I didn't get the job since I put time into interviewing with them.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
- How would you handle a situation where a coworker didn't finish their assigned work?
- What are some areas where you believe you could improve?
