Recruiter cold reached out, I said I would take a call. I read a bunch of Glassdoor reviews that were poor, so that made me a little bit nervous. Talk to the recruiter, set up a time to talk to the sales manager. The day before, the interview was cancelled with no feedback. I got an email saying my application was rejected. I DID NOT EVEN APPLY. Horrible interview experience. Communicate with the recruiting staff your expectations! A quick note explaining why I was not a fit (instead of scheduling an interview and then cancelling it) is preferred by most candidates.

The whole process was super fast. I applied, got contacted within a week, and had a phone screen the next day. Before the main interviews, there were two assessments: one for basic grammar and one for basic math. I also had to draft a sample email for cold outreach. Two days later, the next three interview rounds were set up. Since I wasn't local to Denver, all interviews were done via Google Hangouts. The first round was with current team members to check cultural fit. The second was with a senior executive, and the last one was with the hiring manager in Denver. I really enjoyed talking with everyone; it's clear they have a strong company culture and a thorough interview process to ensure new hires align with it. Even though I didn't get an offer in the end, it was a valuable experience.

Behavioral Technical Case

The interview process started pretty fast with a positive recruiter phone call. Based on my experience and knowledge of their clients, I felt it was a good potential fit. I'm a sales exec with a decade of success leading national sales teams for big IT and VC-backed companies, having held C-level sales roles. I figured I had the experience and contacts to grow a new business area for them. After a few more calls, I was invited for an in-person interview at the NYC HQ. The recruiter was nice, but the two senior corporate sales people were the opposite. While I get the 'throw curveballs' approach, criticizing my resume font was petty and it went downhill. I even heard one say they just wanted me gone quickly. Others had good experiences, and the company has market value. I was about to walk out of the second interview when the interviewer said I knew nothing about sales processes and ended it. Maybe it's because I didn't flatter him. Sometimes personalities just don't mesh. I'm currently in a C-level role at another unicorn.
