St. Luke's University Health Network Nurse Interview Questions
& Process

I applied online in July and got a quick call from a recruiter for a phone screening. They told me the job starts in September and set up a Microsoft Teams interview for the next week. After the interview, I was invited to shadow the unit since I'm a new grad. I was available all week, but the shadowing day was packed with nursing students, so I couldn't really talk to the nurses. They gave short answers when I tried to connect, and it felt unwelcoming, even though I'd just interviewed there. I was still interested because it's my dream specialty and I had a good chat with the manager. But then, no updates. I sent follow-up emails and was always told they were still interviewing, with no timeline. I kept showing interest and asking, but got the same response. The original start date passed, and I asked for a clearer idea of when I'd hear back. I was told it would be soon because they had a lot of applicants to review. It's now October, and I just found out I didn't get the job. I've accepted another position, but this whole process was really annoying. I was so eager to work there, and the poor communication was discouraging, especially for a new grad. It felt like my time wasn't valued, and now I don't want to work there.

It was three rounds of interviews over Zoom at the start of Covid. They got more formal with more specific questions. I finished with the managers.

I had a one-on-one with the HR manager, then another one-on-one with the nurse manager and charge nurse. Everyone was really nice and the whole thing was super quick. Usually, if you interview, the job is yours because they look at your credentials and background checks. The interview is mostly to check your people skills and make sure you're not a mess.
