First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Luke's University Health Network.
Social Media Manager
Had an initial call interview that went well and covered basic questions about my background and education. I wasn't selected to advance to the next stage. I asked for feedback and received a thorough explanation for the decision. It was a positive experience overall, and I was mostly interested in learning more about the role.
- Can you share a recent campaign that you're proud of?
Registered Nurse
I applied online in July and got a quick call from a recruiter for a phone screening. They told me the job starts in September and set up a Microsoft Teams interview for the next week. After the interview, I was invited to shadow the unit since I'm a new grad. I was available all week, but the shadowing day was packed with nursing students, so I couldn't really talk to the nurses. They gave short answers when I tried to connect, and it felt unwelcoming, even though I'd just interviewed there. I was still interested because it's my dream specialty and I had a good chat with the manager. But then, no updates. I sent follow-up emails and was always told they were still interviewing, with no timeline. I kept showing interest and asking, but got the same response. The original start date passed, and I asked for a clearer idea of when I'd hear back. I was told it would be soon because they had a lot of applicants to review. It's now October, and I just found out I didn't get the job. I've accepted another position, but this whole process was really annoying. I was so eager to work there, and the poor communication was discouraging, especially for a new grad. It felt like my time wasn't valued, and now I don't want to work there.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- What makes you want to pursue a career in this particular specialty?
Patient Concierge
The interview started in-person but you could also do it virtually. Then HR calls you for a phone interview. Before that, you have to sign paperwork for them to contact your current and past employers. They talk about the job, benefits, and pay, reading from a script. They then give you a sort of "offer" which is just asking if you want to continue. They won't give a real offer until you show proof of flu and covid vaccines and pass background checks. They mention they can deny medical exemptions and won't email anything because it's not a real offer. If you say you need to think about it, they give you a 48-hour deadline without telling you, then email saying they assume you're not interested. When you ask for more time, they want an answer by the end of the day. The whole thing felt rushed and HR was rude when they didn't get an instant answer. Their process needs work, especially since healthcare jobs are competitive with low pay.
- What makes you want to apply for this job?
- Can you share a difficult situation you encountered and how you handled it?
Instructional Designer
First, there was a short phone call with HR. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager. This interview included behavioral questions, work scenarios, and a discussion about my past employment. We also talked about why I was interested in the role and how it aligned with my goals. The hiring manager explained the daily tasks and the department's vision to ensure it was a mutual fit. Finally, I had another call with HR to go over my work history, background check, and benefits. There was one more step planned, but we decided not to move forward.
- What is your reason for leaving your current employer?
- Can you share an instance where you were given constructive criticism?
- Describe a situation where you assisted a colleague.
