Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Program Coordinator
The interview process was super fast - I did a recorded interview, then a virtual one with the director and another staff member, and finally an in-person interview with other team members, all within a single week. They kept in touch and let me know what was coming next, mostly. It was a bit confusing at the end though. I never got an email saying I didn't get the job, just saw on my job portal dashboard that I wasn't chosen. It would have been nice to get an email after all that. Also, heads up, you need to be on campus at least 15 minutes before your interview because the security gate can cause delays, and you'll probably have to park way up in the parking garage. Nobody told me this, and I'd never been to the campus before, so keep this in mind!
- Tell me about your values.
- Can you describe a time you dealt with a challenging client or coworker?
Project Coordinator
The whole process took about 2-3 months. It began with a HireVue recorded video interview. After 2 weeks, I had a virtual interview with the hiring manager. Two weeks after that, I had a panel interview. This panel interview consisted of 6 separate 1:1 sessions with team members. Then there was one month of silence before I got a reply to my follow-up email from the hiring manager stating that another candidate was selected for the job. The entire process was well organized and the team members were friendly, informative, and professional. My only concern is the lack of communication after my panel interview.
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this role?
- Could you share some instances of your past work?
- Can you give examples of how you've solved problems in previous roles?
Program Coordinator
It was a process with a few steps. I had to do a video interview that was recorded. Then I met with different teams and some of the leaders. In total, there were five interviews. Some were 30 minutes and others were an hour.
- What is your experience with project management?
