I went through a 3 stage interview process. First, I had a telephone interview where I passed. It included standard questions about situations and skills needed for the role. A couple days later, I got an email saying I progressed. The next stage was an online assessment with maths and verbal reasoning, which was easy if you practice. Then I got an email to come for an interview the following week. The interview itself was straightforward, with standard questions. I knew one of the interviewers from a previous energy company where I managed a team for years, so I had lots of examples to share. I felt really positive coming out of the interview, they said I interviewed well and I'd hear back early the next week. But I heard nothing for 3 weeks. I checked the website daily and my application status changed to unsuccessful. I called SSE HR and spoke to the senior HR manager. I was told the hiring manager would call me, but still nothing after 2 weeks. I'm gutted because I really wanted the job and thought I did well, and I don't understand why I didn't get it or the lack of communication.

I had a first interview with the hiring manager. After that, the next steps were a presentation, an exercise, and a final interview with two team members. I was notified about two weeks after the final interview that I didn't get the job. The whole thing took about a month. Even though I didn't get selected, I have to say I really liked the people and how the interviews were run. From the start to the end, I felt respected, and they even gave me feedback after it was all done, which you don't see much anymore. I learned a lot, and I'm glad I went through it!

Behavioral Technical

The interview process involved a phone interview followed by two in-person interviews. It was an old-fashioned and unclear experience regarding the role's specifics. The final in-person interview was chaotic, with a rude and unfriendly interviewer who didn't represent the company well. HR did not respond to a request for background information prior to the interview to support it with factual data. The interviewer asked basic questions and some that were hostile.
