Software Engineer Intern
The whole process was pretty fast. I submitted my application via a job board and was quickly set up for a 20-minute chat. The interviewer began by introducing themselves, asked a few technical questions, and then wrapped up.
- Can you describe your previous experience that is relevant to this role?
Dotnet Developer
I was happy to interview here. But I'm not happy that after I finished all the rounds, it came down to salary. I think my salary expectation was in line with the market and what the job pays. I hope future candidates get a better understanding of salary alignment earlier on.
- What are your salary expectations?
- Are your salary expectations not good?
- Are your salary expectations lower than what many companies offer?
Software Engineer
After the initial phone-screen, I had three more interviews, all on Teams. First up was the hiring manager for a technical interview. It covered basic computer science and database topics. We also went over my previous projects and experience, and briefly discussed the team and SS&C. It was a pleasant chat. For the second interview, I met with the hiring manager and his boss. It was similar to the first, but with an additional person. We dove deeper into my projects and talked about potential team placements. They spent a good amount of time selling the team and company culture. It felt very conversational and enjoyable. The final interview was with one of the VPs. This one was very conversational too, focused on getting to know me, my skills, and how I'd fit into the company. They also spoke highly of the company culture. It all felt like a great group of people and a really positive interview experience. I got a verbal offer a few days after the last interview. My only real gripe is that it took over a month to get the written offer finalized and back to me, although I was warned it would take a while.
- Can you answer some basic computer science questions?
- Can you answer some database questions?
