First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SS&C.
Quality Assurance Analyst
I submitted my resume and cover letter through LinkedIn. I then had a 30-minute phone interview where I was asked about why I was interested in SS&C, my knowledge of financial assets, a time I encountered unexpected issues, and my technical background. About three weeks later, I was invited for an onsite interview that lasted 2.5 hours. I met with five people who all seemed very nice and asked me about test processes, handling difficult situations, identifying amounts on bonds for cash flow payments, and my experience with swaps.
- What do you dislike the most?
Senior QA Engineer
The interview process was quite straightforward. It started with an introduction, followed by two main sections focusing on general QA experience and then automation experience. The entire interview lasted about an hour and was conducted over Microsoft Teams. I have a negative view of this experience because after the interview, I was told I'm 'not a senior QA' and could 'apply for a lower-level QA position.' This was offensive given I've been in a senior role for 4.5 years, and it came without any specific feedback on where I might have faltered. They also questioned my background in QA, despite my 7 years of experience in the field, because my degree is in Software Engineering. It's important to note there isn't a specific degree for QA Engineering. Honestly, if you value yourself, don't bother applying here.
- Can you describe BDD?
- Tell me about the weirdest or most entertaining bug you've ever found.
- How do you approach testing?
QA Analyst
The interview process was formal. It started with two members of their department staff, followed by an interview with an HR member. They asked various questions about my previous experience, touching on several points from my resume. They also discussed the company and the responsibilities of their department.
- How would you handle a situation where a deadline is approaching and there's still a lot of work remaining?
