Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SPS Commerce.
Billing Analyst
The interview process involved one phone call and then two in-person meetings. I spoke with the Billing Manager, the Finance Director, and the CFO. It was a pretty standard process overall, and they were very thorough.
- Tell me about your background and experience.
- What do you know about billing and finance?
- Can you describe your interactions with senior financial leaders?
Analyst
So I initially applied for a different role at SPS, but it got filled. Then they reached out about the Associate Analyst position, so I applied for that. Sarah Jackson, a Senior Recruiter, called me for an initial phone chat. After that, I went onsite. I met with my potential manager and a colleague, then the department director and another colleague to check my foreign language skills. The senior recruiter came back at the end to wrap things up, show me around, and set me up to shadow someone. Honestly, the whole thing was amazing. Sarah explained the role and company really well; she was super nice and professional, unlike anyone I've met in over a year of interviews. Everyone I met was genuine and warm. SPS is growing fast and full of smart, energetic people. The culture is about working hard but also having fun. I was really impressed and happily accepted the offer.
- Tell me about your intellect and how you approach specific challenges in your career and life.
- Regarding your previous roles, how do you see yourself as a contributor, rather than just detailing tasks you've done repeatedly?
Billing Analyst
The interviewer was really nice, and my recruiter told me to make sure I was super detailed in my answers, especially about my past jobs. I did just that, giving specific and detailed responses. They mostly asked about my previous roles and why I was interested in their company. I felt it went great. My recruiter mentioned the interviewer thought it went well too, but they decided not to move forward because they felt I wasn't thorough enough in my answers. I told my recruiter that while I liked the interviewer, that wasn't true.
- Can you tell me about your past work experience?
- What makes you want to work here?
