The interview experience was okay. Initially, I had a one-on-one meeting with the store manager, which I thought went well, but I didn't receive an offer. I reapplied after seeing an ad on Craigslist and had a trial day with a shift supervisor. I was supposed to have a short chat with the assistant manager, but she barely spoke to me during my time there. After the trial day, I was told I'd be contacted if I got the job. Two weeks passed without any communication. When I called multiple times to speak with the assistant manager, she never returned my calls. I also emailed her to ask why I wasn't chosen, but she didn't provide a clear reason.

First, I had a phone interview with the GM. Then, the next day, I went to the store for another interview with the GM and the Training Manager. I had to complete a packet that included customer service scenarios, random trivia (like who the VP of the US is, or naming states and their capitals), some math problems (multiplication, and drawing a line from point A to point B), and my availability.

I sent my resume and cover letter to HR and got an in-person interview pretty fast. The HR person asked me standard interview questions. Then, I had to complete a timed survey. It started with basic questions about job hopping, then got really weird. It included questions about math, creativity, my favorite dessert, spatial reasoning, and geography. It covered a lot! If you pass that, you do a trial day where you interact with customers and show off your customer service skills. Your performance is evaluated, and that's how they decide who to hire. The cool thing is, you get paid for the trial day even if you don't get the job. It's a pretty thorough process for a cupcake shop.

  • Draw a straight line connecting point A and point B.
