First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Springhill Consulting Group.
Associate
It was a 30 min behavioral interview with another associate. He told me about the 2 week trial period before officially becoming an employee at the company, which was intefesting. The questions were easy going.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join springhill?
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a conflict?
Analyst
I spoke with someone who seemed to be a higher-level analyst first, but their questions were really basic, like they were pulled straight from a Google search. The main thing they kept asking about was how much time I'd spend on the phone. When I asked for specifics, they said over 80% of the first year would be cold calling. This matched what I'd heard about the Analyst role, which is basically just cold calling to get info for your manager. I've got a four-year degree and don't want to work in a call center. The in-person part of the interview really confirmed my doubts. The office was basically just temporary walls, an unfinished kitchen, scattered supplies, gross carpet, and cubicles. No waiting area, which was super awkward. There were empty offices with windows, but all the analysts were stuck in high-walled cubicles with just a phone, laptop, and a calling list. I don't get why there were so many empty offices and so many people in cubicles. The rest of the interviews were pretty normal. The VP mostly chatted about sports and my college, while a director asked more about my experience. The actual work sounds interesting with different clients, but I'm not sure how rewarding it is as an analyst. The higher-ups seemed pretty pleased with themselves, and everyone, even the VP, seemed really young.
- How much of your day are you willing to spend on the phone making calls?
- What percentage of your time would be spent cold calling?
Talent Development Manager
A partner alluded to cash flow problems when I asked about their biggest business challenges, saying "we're only as solvent as our client." The other two partners agreed. Yikes... There was a 30 minute phone interview with a partner, followed by an hour-long in-person interview with 3 partners and 2 analysts. I didn't get an offer, which is fine, but it was unprofessional they didn't follow up after I took time off work to come in.
- Considering your background with larger organizations, would you be comfortable in a smaller company setting lacking some of the resources you're accustomed to?
- What are your salary expectations?
Business Analyst
It was a phone call interview. I got to ask some important questions that made me decide against the position. This experience confirmed my disinterest in working for this company. There was no follow-up.
- What is your proficiency in conducting independent research, specifically through cold-calling competitors?
