First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spreetail.
Software Engineer
I just had a phone interview with the recruiter. It wasn't conversational at all. I don't know how she screened me since she didn't get to know me. It was just situational questions one after another, no breaks in between, no back and forth. She just seemed to be taking notes for someone else to evaluate me, which isn't ideal because she might miss information or not hear my conversational tone. It was the second worst interview, only beaten by one I had with Google.

Software Engineer
I got referred by a manager at Spreetail. A recruiter reached out the very next day. We had a quick phone chat, and then they set me up for an onsite interview. The onsite had questions about my previous projects and some other personality type questions. There was also a technical part to it. The whole thing took about an hour. They gave me a coding assignment as homework and then scheduled another meeting to go over my code sample. That code review lasted about an hour too. It was pretty detailed, but I enjoyed walking them through my project and getting their feedback. The recruiter was really good at keeping me updated the whole time.
- Could you solve a given problem by using relationships and UML diagrams?
Software Engineer
I applied online for the Sr Back End Software Engineer role in Omaha. The recruiter called me the next day to chat about my background and reasons for changing jobs, then set up a phone interview with a chapter lead. This 30-min call focused on my technical background and interests, and they explained Spreetail's business model. After that, the recruiter sent over a take-home project to build a sample within a set time, for presentation in the next stage. The presentation round lasted about an hour and included lunch with the team. I got a tour of the office, then presented my code in a conference room, answering questions about my approach and design choices. We then had lunch and talked about the company. A week later, the recruiter scheduled the HR interview. This was a short 10-20 min phone call about my past experiences and career goals, plus personal interests. I received an offer the day after, accepted it a day later, and finished the paperwork the same day. Spreetail does things differently and might not be for everyone, but if you're passionate and have fun, you'll fit in.
- If you could change one thing about the sample project you built, what would it be?
