I found this job posting on Monster.com and it seemed to match my university major in Integrated Marketing. Within two hours of applying, I got a call for an interview, but they never mentioned the job title or what they do. The office was really small, like an apartment, which was a bad sign. My interview was 45 minutes late and only lasted 15 minutes. They asked basic questions about my experience and why I'd be a good fit, without explaining the role. When I asked about daily tasks and audience targeting, they ignored my questions and talked about how meaningful their work is. I was invited for a second interview where I shadowed someone without a college degree. We drove 40 miles to go door-to-door selling makeup, which they called business-to-business marketing, but it wasn't. We even got stopped by the police. I realized it was a scam and left. The people there seem brainwashed, and anyone with integrity should avoid it.

There are three interview process that must be done. The first one is about a 15-20 minute talk at the office. Then you get asked back for the second interview which is an on set one, where I walked up and down a street in Hackensack trying to sell cosmetics. After selling for awhile then you sit down with the person to talk about the experience and what you are looking for in the internship. I was asked if this is a job I can see myself doing what we just did. If you say yes then you go back to get another interview with the owner. I said no so I left.

I was contacted out of the blue by Inc 2000, who claimed I applied for a position there, though I have no record of it. This was my first red flag. They wanted me to come in for a 20-minute interview right away. This was my second red flag because a hiring manager can't determine if someone is a good fit in such a short time. I researched Inc 2000 and looked for any positions I might have applied for, but found none. Then I found a lot of information about them on Glassdoor. After reading all the reviews, I quickly decided this company intended to prey on people. My career goals are the complete opposite, being a nonprofit communications professional, so I immediately canceled the interview. Thanks to the candidates who gave me the heads-up!
