& Process

The whole interview thing took about 3 days. It started with a quick phone call. If they liked that, I got invited for an in-person meeting with the hiring manager. That meeting went well, lasted about 30 mins after a short wait. It was mostly a chat to see if we clicked. I talked about my background, why I left my old jobs, and what I'm looking for now. They told me about the company and what they needed. I felt good about it. Then, I was asked back for a second interview. This one was to show me what the job is really like day-to-day. I met the hiring manager again, some account execs, and the CEO briefly. We talked about the role, and then the CEO and I discussed things, and I got offered the job, which I took!

I got a call from the receptionist at Sports Inc 2000 about a job I supposedly applied to. I vaguely remembered seeing the posting but skipped it because I'm not into sports. Then, a recruitment site emailed me saying it was an 'excellent match'. I decided to go anyway since I'm interested in the work. While waiting, I overheard the receptionist making calls, asking people if they were interested in the job. The interviewer talked really fast, briefly explaining the job: going door-to-door selling sports tickets. She said I'd hear back by 4 PM that day, but I never did.

Submitted application and got a response within 24 hours. Went in for an interview the same day as the call back. First interview seemed normal, but I got a second offer to come back the next morning. We had applicants go out and watch others solicit and market a product that no one cares about. They try to break down the numbers to make it seem like they make money, but they really don't know what they're talking about. Basically, to 'achieve' a higher position, you have to make sales and travel a lot. I knew something was fishy when the receptionist kept calling potential applicants every 5 minutes with the same generic questions, when they should have someone in HR doing that in a private place. Also, the numerous listings on job search engines is definitely a red flag. NO BASE SALARY/COMMISSION ONLY. PYRAMID SCHEME

I only made it to the first interview round, which was quite brief. I turned down the second interview because it didn't align with what I'm looking for. When I arrived, I had to complete a simple form while waiting for the hiring manager. The relaxed vibe was a relief; the secretary was friendly, ESPN was on in the lobby, and there was a dog walking around. It was pretty laid-back overall, and we talked about stuff besides work.
