Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sports Direct.
Sales Associate
The interview was very direct and short, with common questions about your past experience and why you are suited for the role you are applying for. Confidence is key, as well as examples of how and when you’ve demonstrated similar skills required to do the job you are applying for in the past. You want the interviewer to feel and believe you are more than capable of completing the tasks at hand independently.
- Can you share an instance where you had to handle a challenging customer?
Sales Associate
The interview experience at Sports Direct was not great. It was chaotic and disorganized from the start. The interview felt rushed and impersonal. The hiring manager seemed uninterested and asked basic questions without digging into my skills. It felt like a tick-box exercise. It wasn't very professional either, with the interviewer getting interrupted by calls and staff, which was distracting. My overall impression wasn't good. I wouldn't recommend this company for a good work environment.
- Can you recall an instance where you delivered excellent customer service?
Sales Associate
I got an email that I was accepted for an interview. I then had to pick a time slot for my interview on the website. Then when I got to my interview, the store manager greeted me and took me into her office and started asking me some questions.
