I went through three interviews: first with HR, then with the VP of Production (after signing an NDA), and finally with the Studio Development Director. The whole thing took about a month. I really enjoyed talking to everyone, but the experience soured because after that last interview, I heard absolutely nothing back. I tried emailing and messaging the three people I spoke with to get an update, and they all said I'd hear something soon, but I'm still waiting. It feels pretty unprofessional, especially after putting in so much time preparing and interviewing.

The interview process was pretty standard for a lead position, maybe a little more detailed. Things went south after I accepted the offer. We'd emailed a bit about my outside work policy, which they seemed cool with during the interviews, even saw it as leadership experience. But then they stopped responding. They sent a policy I hadn't seen before saying all commercial outside work was a no-go. I asked for clarification since it was super strict, unlike anything I'd seen in 11+ years and over a dozen studios. After I answered their questions and asked my own, silence. Five people at SD were cc'd on my last email, still nothing. My start date passed. I got an automated welcome email by accident, I guess. Funny, a recruiter contacted me about the same job, said I'd be a good fit. I guess they were already looking for a replacement and ghosted me. I sent one last email, a week ago, and still nothing. So I'm here to warn others about dealing with SD, even after an offer. Hopefully, this is just a weird case. Update: After a month of no response and seeing the job posted again, I finally emailed saying I accepted another offer. They finally replied, apologized for the lack of communication, and said my outside income request 'did not meet with Splash’s ways of working.' So heads up, even if they like that you freelance or teach during interviews, they won't let you do it at SD. All studios have clauses, but SD's is super strict and they don't tell you until after you accept verbally. This review should highlight their hidden policy and save you time if you freelance or teach.

It was a pretty fast process, they got back to me pretty quick for a first interview. I thought it went well, but the interviewer's camera was off, which made it a bit weird and uncomfortable. I didn't get a second interview, and even after asking why I didn't move forward, I still haven't heard back after months. They also told me upfront it was just a 'getting to know you' chat, but there were some technical questions, which I luckily prepared for. I do wish they'd mentioned the technical questions beforehand, especially since I asked the recruiter what to focus on.

Behavioral Technical Case

They sent an email to coordinate a first phone interview with the head of the finance department. The interview went well and felt friendly, including a mix of standard questions and some technical ones relevant to the role. About two weeks later, they set up a second interview at the HQ in Bromley. The people were easygoing. This interview was entirely technical and involved an Excel case study.
