First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spin Master.
Engineer
I went through several rounds with HR, managers, and other engineers. We toured their facility, and then I had time to ask questions. The interview questions were pretty straightforward. However, they seemed to not like it when I asked about the salary range a few times, and they refused to tell me. I suspect my expected salary range might have been a factor in why they chose someone else in the final round.
- Could you compare one of their toys to a competitor's and estimate which one costs more?
Engineer
The interview process started with a 30-minute Skype call that was delayed and cut short due to technical issues, lasting only about 10 minutes. This was followed by another HR meeting which involved some confusion finding the hiring manager's office. The interview with the hiring manager was a relaxed talk where I was asked about how certain things would be made and a strong emphasis was put on adapting communication for non-technical stakeholders. The next in-person interview was with HR, who discussed the company's lack of direction. Later, a Skype call with a director from the US presented a different view of the job duties. HR then suggested an offer was close, pending final approval. After several weeks of delays, the job offer was put on hold. The whole process was disorganized and unprofessional.
- What are your preferred clothes to wear?
Engineer
I applied online. Then I had a phone screen where they asked some basic questions about my experience. After that, I had an on-site interview. I met with about 4 people in separate interviews. They mostly asked about my experiences and why I wanted to work for Spin Master. It was a non-technical interview.
