The interview process was pretty standard. It started with a recruiter call, followed by a call with the hiring manager. The hiring manager call ran a bit longer than expected, but they were really nice, and overall it was a pleasant experience with standard questions.

it was a smooth process remotely. I had about three interviews with three coworkers. it was a promotion from my previous role, so the interview was focused on how I could help improve the product and how I would go about managing it. Note this was in 2021, so it might not be reflective of current interview processes.

This was a really weird interview process. It began with a quick, awkward 15-minute recruiter Zoom call. The recruiter didn't turn her camera on and spent 30 minutes just talking about how much she loved the company. I barely had time to say anything at the end because it ran so long. I learned almost nothing about the job, didn't get to talk about my background, and found out the salary was way below market. After a lot of scheduling hassle, I talked to the hiring manager, who seemed professional. I got positive feedback from the recruiter and was told I'd move on, expecting another email to set up times in a few days. The next week, I got a rejection email saying they were in the final stages with other candidates. The whole thing was strange – the recruiter's behavior, the communication issues, the drawn-out timeline, and the super low salary. I was actually going to withdraw my application but wanted to see what happened. They really need to improve their recruiting and hiring because it made me lose confidence in them as a potential employer.

After the initial recruiter call, I had a UI test that was supposed to be open-ended but turned out to be pretty simple, taking about 2 hours. It involved HTML, CSS, and optionally jQuery and underscore.js to replicate mockups and handle data updates. There were also questions about my thoughts on the test and how I'd improve it. The in-person part had two 45-minute 1:1 sessions with Sr. UI Developers. I had to introduce myself twice. The first developer asked for HTML and CSS for a calendar layout and how I'd handle showing/hiding events. The second developer, who worked on the JavaScript side, asked some JavaScript gotcha questions, a substring problem, and discussed how much of the job involves using his UI library. He also gave me time for questions, after which I learned most of the job is implementing his UI library.
