First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spencer Ogden.
Recruitment Consultant
It was quite disorganized. I ended up speaking with three different people for what felt like a single interview, and I had to repeat the same questions to each of them. I really think they could have all been in the same room at once instead of calling people in one by one. Also, some of the people they mentioned would be there for my interview weren't, and others showed up instead. Honestly, I've experienced much better interviews.
- What would be your financial priorities if you were to earn a substantial amount with the company?
Recruitment Consultant
The interviewer was quite odd. I shared my aspirations and goals. Despite having 10 years of sales experience, she mainly focused on the financial aspects of my ambitions. She didn't inquire about my past performance in exceeding expectations or targets. She asked 'Why do you wanna be a recruitment consultant?', to which I provided a proper response. She then asked the EXACT SAME question again. Honestly, who aspires to be a Recruiter? She repeatedly asked 'Why do you need so much money? What do you use the money for?', which I felt was intrusive. I lost interest early on and she never followed up. Interestingly, I've continued to look for similar roles, and this company has been trying to fill this specific position for a long time, which seems like a red flag, possibly indicating high turnover or a peculiar interview approach. I received no further communication, which is strange considering they are a recruitment company themselves.
- Why do you need so much money? What do you use the money for?
Recruitment Consultant
It started with a LinkedIn Application, then a call from Talent Acquisition who were very clear about the role and asked about my background and experiences. After that, I did a really good psychometric assessment that focused on competencies rather than numbers. Once I passed those, I had an in-person interview with the Hiring Manager. They were really welcoming and interested in my experiences and how I could use them in recruitment. They also explained technical industry questions in a way I could understand, which made me feel more confident. The whole process took about 2 weeks, and I appreciate the team for making it so smooth.
