Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Speedway.
Customer Service Representative
I applied online and got a call back about two days later. I went in for the interview that same week. I got there about 5-10 minutes early and told the cashier I was there for an interview. They told me to hang out in the store until the person ahead of me was done. I ended up waiting for almost 30 minutes, and 15 of that was after the other interview finished. They put me in a room that was really crowded and dirty for the interview. The person interviewing me was all over the place and couldn't find my application. They also didn't seem to know the questions themselves, saying they were new. There was about a minute between each question, and the whole thing was just really unpleasant.
- What makes you a better candidate than others applying for this role?
- Can you share an instance where a customer was upset and you couldn't resolve their issue?
Customer Service Representative
I applied online late at night and the very next day, I got a call setting up an interview for that afternoon. When I went in, they asked basic questions that were pretty easy. The interviewer said he'd either call me in 10 minutes or I should wait up to 3 business days. He actually called me the next day to offer me the job, told me which Speedway location I'd be working at, and asked me to come in the following day for paperwork, with my start date being that Monday.

Customer Service Representative
I applied online and heard back in less than a week. I missed the recruiter's initial call and left a few voicemails, but they finally reached out the following week. My interview was set for November 4th. The interview itself was pretty straightforward. They mentioned that due to my age (18), it might be challenging to place me because the company sells alcohol, and the legal age for that is 21. They said they would conduct a reference check and a background check, which could take up to two weeks. It's been about three weeks now, and I haven't heard back, so I'm assuming I didn't get the job, but I plan to call them to confirm.

- Have you worked with food before?
