First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spectrum Brands.
Industrial Designer
I applied from out of state and went through 4 rounds. The first was a phone call with HR (about 45 min). Next, a 30 min phone interview with the hiring manager. Then, a 3-hour online meeting where I presented my portfolio and answered questions from managers and the team. The last round was on-site, 5 hours long, where I met more team members and had lunch with managers. The last two rounds were pretty demanding, asking a lot about my process and how I work, but everyone was super nice and it was a great chance to show my work and learn about the company culture. The HR rep was awesome, keeping me updated on everything, what to expect, and when.
- Can you tell me about the kind of work environment or job that you find most suitable?
Industrial Designer
I had a phone interview with HR and then a Skype interview with the department manager. They were both really nice and I liked talking to them. The only bummer was the rejection email, which felt super impersonal. After all the time I spent researching the company and applying, I was hoping the rejection note would at least have my name on it. It's a small thing, but it would have been a nice touch.
- Can you tell me about the skills you possess that would benefit our company?
- Which software programs are you proficient in?

Recruiter reached out. I got through the first couple interviews, and then they scheduled a follow-up with the hiring manager.
